I hadn't had a chance to talk to Hal (Sirowitz) in months, but the last messages we exchanged were that he was in good spirits, and still fighting. I sent him a message tonite to let him know I was thinkin' about him.

The "slam" tonite wasn't so much a slam as a series of 10 minute features. I am checked out of the slam right now, which is not a good sign because the WOWps finals are coming up Dec 10th, and I have alot of work to do.

It's late, I am going to head to bed, catch you al in the morning.

I got a comment today from someone that really made me uncomfortable. It has made me realize that I have some serious choices to make, that perhaps I have put off for too long, and need to follow through on, once and for all.

This is a my special intervention plea to Scott Woods, on behalf of Scott Woods, who as sure as rain falls from the sky, is growing more and more frustrated at his falling farther and farther behind in Nanowrimo, or whatever it is.

Leave that girl.

Not out of failure, not out of thinking you can't do it, because you can, you've done it before, so there is no challenge in accomplishing the task yet again. Let her go, she is a tramp- she is here for 30 days and gone, leaving you with a mess of crazy nonsensical pages and a whole lotta relationships with friends and family to repair.

Know that I say this because I am your friend, and I am thinking of what is best for you, and your characters, who deserve better... If God really did create the world in seven days- dude, seriously, look at it- do you think he would have done much better in 30? I think not, we'd be hearing some frustration on LJ at day twenty about continents and how he doesn't want them to look like inappropriate body parts and some such nonsense.

In a few days, your posts will gain urgency, your eyes and demeaner at work will start to change- your harem will notice your discontent, and start to avoid you, like you have a big H1N1 written on your forehead and your handing out samples. Writing does not have to be a lonely endeavor, it's just sold that way because guy writers have been unable to get girls to take their clothes to the sound of keyboards or typewriters, as opposed to Guitars. It doesn't mean that people do not want to share the experience with you.

A few days after that, your LJ posts will be simply "can't post, gotta write". Then we'll have to call your wife and make sure that you're still alive- and she won't really know because you've been in the basement for a week and haven't asked for any food, or water. Concerned, she will grab a flashlight and come down looking for you, only to find a gollom-esque figure hunched over a keyboard in the dark stroking the monitor in loving fashion jabbering some nonsense about your "precious" when really all you are typing is "all work and no play makes Scott a dull boy." It doesn't end well at that point...

Do you see where I am going here? She's not worth it, let her go.

hit this instead: http://community.livejournal.com/novel_in_90/

Now this, this... is a woman. This is a loving experience where you can build and share and reach new heights with your writing, all without losing your hair, friends, job, wife, car, or melatonin. This is where your characters can stretch out, spend time telling you who they are, and get moving the way you intended to. Oh, she wants to develop the relationship, and she forces you to move forward, but she comes with friends that cheer you on when you do well, or remind you how valuable she is when you do not.

She is not a writing prostitute, who does not care what it is on the page, just that some vomited english proves that for 30 days, you can type fast and furious- yeah, does that not at all sound like the slam poetry of the novel world? Is that really who you are?

I think not.

Scotty, as your friend, let's step away from all this- together, let's do Novel in 90, and write something that doesn't turn into an accidentally deleted file at the next hard drive crash... and let's keep the people we love doing it....

So, I am six days from the Sacrifice movie trailer debut- this is actually trailer #3 for those not in the know, trailer #1, a teaser trailer, is available on Youtube, Trailer #2 was panned by the critics (Mike, Kent, Shanda, and Brent), and thus may never see the light of day.

Trailer 3- approved by the critics in it's infancy, is now just one visual effect and some sound fx away from done. It is infinitley better than it was in it's infancy, and it is a proof of concept (to me if no one else) that I can get my parts of the project done.

Once this trailer gets out the door, it's a small downhill roll that will eventually turn into a free fall of promotions and showings around the country.

I have set up the infrustructure to start processing the scenes as I edit them down, gettng a copy to Michael for soundtrack, and a copy to Parrish for sound fx. I am going to try and get one/two scenes done in a sitting, so that most of the movie is done by the end of the year. The visual FX piece, which I am handling on site, has turned out to be infinitley fun and challenging.

The monster is turning out to be the biggest challenge, in more ways than one, but we should be able to overcome with some perceverence.

There is a ton more to learn as I move through this process- Once I learn to make a movie, I have to learn to sell a movie, which is an even bigger challenge- but hey, I know one threatre that will give us a couple days of showings so far, and that's a great start.

So, this train's about to leave the station, and it's exciting to be on it...

Klute, please advise if any of the dates are booked below already...

Hello touring poets of the world...

Bob here, 1/2 of the Mesa Slammastership. Winter tends to be a fairly popular time for poets that want to tour in AZ, so I would publish our open dates here at the Tiny Mesa Poetry Slam through the end of March, 2010.

If you would like to reserve a date, please email Klute, the other 1/2 of the Slammastership, at mesaslam@yahoo.com.

There is a nice webpage about accomidations and amenities in the Mesa Slam Area at our website:
http://www.anthology.org/feature.html

And, there is a calendar of Phoenix area poetry events here, although, it's not ours so we cannot testify that it is up to the minute:

He is a veritable Yogi Berra of entertaining quotes

"I don't want to die and hear everybody say, 'Oh, there goes one of the best players ever.' If you're going to give me props, just give them to me right now."

That, and he is a Hall of Fame pitcher... Go Pedro!

or Goddess, or Deity, etc.

It becomes a chicken or the egg contest, who created God? Elmer Fudd? God had to be created, just as man had to be created by God... then who created the creator of God? Well, who created that (or them)? So on and so forth, until your person pulls the word "faith", as in "you just have to believe".

I don't just have to do anything, except I suppose pay taxes, then I don't HAVE to, I just need to accept the consequences for not doing so.

So, I would imagine the same thing is true of God, I don't HAVE to believe, I just need to accept the consequences of not doing so...

Jen G. is a hypothetical former marina trench explorer. She is the coach of the 2009 San Jose slam team, and has featured in Berkeley, San Francisco, and Santa Cruz (occasionally as part of the now defunct poetry collective Code Octopus). She is also half of the experimental filmmaking duo No-Penis Productions (winners of the 2008 Viscera Award). The G. stands for several different things, depending on who you ask. She has never been in the Navy.

David Perez enjoys jet skiing, racquetball and starlit walks on the beach with the Queen of Denmark. In 2008 he represented San Jose at the Individual World Poetry slam. In 2009 he is pried again from the bosom of the Bay Area to compete at the National Poetry Slam with team San Jose. For the past two years he has coached San Jose's youth slam team and worked as Performing Arts Program Coordinator for MACLA, Movimiento de Arte y Cultura Latino Americana. But the real party is in 2010, when he graduates from his MFA program.

Halloween 2009 was a success, special thanks to Aura (who helped out even though she had won Homecoming queen and had to leave for part of it), Brent (who basically worked eight hours on something he didn't get to play in), Sharon (Superhuman as always) and Cameron (if he doesn't think we're crazy now, he's one of us). Thanks to everyone that came by, first timers and repeaters.

So, yes, Aura won Homecoming Queen, having never been popular, I was unsure exactly what that meant. But she got a great dress at Evermore Nevermore, and went to the dance.

Pictures will go to Boboratory.com shortly.

With Halloween over, I can now squarely focus on the movie- and we are going to need some help with that apparently. If you know anyone that is good with 3d rendering and animation, please let me know. The trailer is ALMOST ready, I need to add just a couple sequences, fix up the sound, and grade the shots to fit a little better and it will be good. I showed it to a couple people Sat night, and I'll probably do a cast showing on Sat at Queens so everyone can see it before Tucson, but the movie now takes center stage for me.

Which means that I am going to ask Klute to handle the Slam for November while I work, we have a couple features coming (Pincusion Orchestra this week and BLAIR! next week), so we will be fairly busy on the poetry front. i also have to start promoting the pencil pushers event for Sunday the 15th, so look for more details on the soon.

That is what's up with me, what's up with you?

Hi all- If you've got some time, please consider coming by my house on Saturday, we could sure use the help setting up for sat night, and there will be drinks and some food for all. I think Brent's coming by, and we would love to see you...

The writing month thingy starts next week, and while I cannot promise that I will commit to it, I will try and use the motivation to start writing on the next film project.

November will be insane, I will need lots of help with the slam, as I will most likely miss most, if not all Thursdays because of a) travel, b) movie work, c) projects I have let fall WAYYY behind. So, You'll probably be seeing ALOT of Klute in November at the slam, and not so much Bob.

Speaking of Movie, we are moving forward, but we could use some help in the computer Graphics department, so if you would like to help out in some computer generated special effects, please send me a massege. Everything else is good, we are almost ready for the trailer release on november 15th, and the party on December 5th should be a ton of fun...

Those are my quick hits, more later...
